NORTH YORK, ON - In a battle among two of the top teams in the OCAA's east division, the Durham College women's volleyball team fell short in four sets against the Seneca Sting.
Both sides went into the night with an 8-1 record and a spot at the top of the division's standings on the line.
Seneca came out of the gates swinging, just rolling through the opening two sets with 25-16 and 25-13 wins.
The Lords pulled it together in the third set, refusing to be swept in regular season action for the first time since 2017 with a 25-21 win over the hosts.
Durham came close to forcing a fifth and final set but just fell short as the Sting won the fourth set 25-21 to take the match 3-1.
Aislinn Pedersen (Hamilton, ON) hit 10 of her teams 21 kills on the night, also serving two aces for 12.0 points and recording 12 digs.
Chelsea Oke (Brooklin, ON) was the team leader in digs with 14, also adding two kills.
Brooke Young (Chestermere, AB) registered all 18 assists on the night for the Lords. The team blocked seven shots collectively, with Samantha Payne (West Kelowna, BC) blocking four and Young blocking three.
The Lords are back in Toronto on Friday for a 6:00 PM match against the George Brown Huskies before going into the holiday break.
