Graduating seniors ceremony kicks off 27-point victory

OSHAWA, ON – Following a pre-game ceremony that celebrated the graduating seniors from the Durham College women's basketball program, the Lords cruised to their largest win of the season, defeating the Centennial Colts by a 27-point margin.

Durham came out of the gates flying, leading 7-2 through three minutes of play. Durham ultimately outscored Centennial 15-10 in the first quarter, with five different Lords scoring buckets in the frame.

In the second quarter, the Lords tripled their point total with a 30-point showing to lead 45-22 going into halftime. Shay Littmann (Ajax, ON) went 4-for-4 in the second quarter for nine points. Of 10 assists recorded in the first quarter, Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, ON) accounted for exactly half of them.

Centennial's defending cut the Lords' point total in the third back to 15 points, but an even stronger Lords defence held the Colts to six points over 10 minutes of play. Morrison and Littmann both had a pair of steals in the quarter to keep the ball out of the hands of the Colts.

The Colts outscored the Lords 10-6 in the first half of the fourth quarter and would finish the game on an 8-7 run to cut the deficit below 30. With the sound of the final horn, the Durham Lords won 73-46.

Morrison finished as the team-leader in points with 17. In addition, Morrison registered seven assists, six rebounds and six steals. In total, the Lords had four players reach double-digit points, as Kendra Oliver () finished the night with 14, while Littmann and Daija Thompson () each scored 13.

Littmann and her 13 points on the night would be her season-high. Meanwhile, Oliver came up one short of tying her season-high.

The Lords end their regular season on the road with a trip to Ottawa on February 18th to play the Algonquin Wolves at 4:00 PM. The season finale will be a battle of the top two teams in the OCAA's east division.
