PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Durham College men's soccer team are off to a strong start after defeating the newly-named Fleming Phoenix 7-0 on Wednesday evening.
Durham scored twice in the first half, both off of the foot of John Moncada (Scarborough, ON) who scored twice in the first half hour to put the Lords up early.
Coming out for the second half, Deandre Branch (Oshawa, ON) put the Lords up by three with a goal in the 58th minute before Moncada completed the hat trick less than five minutes later.
Moncada scored his fourth of the night and the season moments before the 70th minute mark to give the Lords a 5-0 lead.
Joshua Mehta (Mississauga, ON) joined the scoring party in the 75th minute to go up by six, before Moncada added a fifth and final goal to win it 7-0 for Durham.
Durham finished the night with 20 shots on goal of 39 total shots taken.
Very early in the season, Moncada sits second in the OCAA in goals scored with five in one game, only behind St. Lawrence's Jacob Ball who has seven across two games played.
The Lords are back in action on Friday for their home opener against the Seneca Sting at Vaso's Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 PM.
