OSHAWA, ON - Sage Thomas-Roberts (Toronto, ON) led the Lords to a 4-2 win over the Algonquin Wolves on Friday evening with a hat trick.
Thomas-Roberts scored early with a third minute goal and added a second less than 1-0 minutes later to double Durham's lead.
Coming out of halftime with a 2-0 lead, Jaime Pye (Oshawa, ON) scored a little over two minutes into the second half.
Only 38 seconds later, Algonquin ruined Kelsa O'Donoghue's (Ajax, ON) clean sheet to chip away at a previous three goal deficit.
In the 72nd minute, Thomas-Roberts completed the hat trick off a long pass from the back line to regain the three goal lead. Algonquin scored again eight minutes later to put the match within two goals again but 4-2 would be the final score.
O'Donoghue finished the night with four saves on six shots on goal against.
Recording a second hat trick in four games to begin the season, Thomas-Roberts leads the OCAA with nine goals.
The Lords are back in action on Saturday night with a 6:00 PM kickoff against the St. Lawrence Surge at Vaso's Field.
