OSHAWA, ON - Playing their second match in as many nights, the Durham College men's soccer team picked up three points in the standings with a Saturday night win over the St. Lawrence Surge.
Neither side could break the ice in the first half, despite a combined 11 shots on target in a half that saw St. Lawrence pick up a pair of yellow cards.
Durham was awarded a penalty kick in the 70th minute after an illegal tackle from the Surge goalkeeper. Romaine Watkis (Ajax, ON) took advantage of the opportunity and put home the first and only goal of the night.
Garrett Werner (Ajax, ON) stopped all five shots on target faced for the clean sheet.
With the win, the Lords improve to 2-1-1 on the season ahead of their Northern Ontario road trip.
The Lords travel to Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, September 30 for a match against the Sault Cougars at 2:00 PM.
