SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - Kicking off their Northern Ontario road trip, the Durham College women's soccer team defeated the Sault Cougars 13-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Following a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Erika Bjorgum (Kingman, AB) scores two goals in five minutes to put the visitors up by two by the 26th minute mark.
Sage Thomas-Roberts (Toronto, ON) scored two goals of their own in a five minute span, finding the back of the net in the 29th and 34th minute.
Despite Sault's desperation to hear the halftime whistle, the Lords scored four more in eight minutes with two goals from Erin Michalicka (Pickering, ON), one from Jaime Pye (Oshawa, ON) and one by Emily Arn (West Lorne, ON) to give the Lords an 8-0 lead through 45 minutes.
Pye started the scoring early in the second half, making it 9-0 only four minutes in before Serena Rodrigues (Whitby, ON) and Isabel Sullivan (Bowmanville, ON) joined the score sheet to put the team in double-digit territory.
Thomas-Roberts completed the hat trick 65 minutes in and added a fourth two minutes later.
Durham held Sault to no shots in the match, taking 44 of their own.
Thomas-Roberts sits as the OCAA goals leader with 16 in six matches played, while Bjorgum is in a three-way tie for third with nine goals.
The Lords make their way back south with a stop in Sudbury on Sunday afternoon for a match against the Cambrian Golden Shield.
