OTTAWA, ON - The Durham College women's volleyball team complete a weekend sweep of the nation's capital, defeating the La Cité Coyotes in four sets on Saturday afternoon.
Despite trailing 10-6 to begin the opening set, the Coyotes scored six unanswered to not only keep themselves in it early, but to also take the lead.
The Lords kept it close, and after retaking the lead 18-17 they didn't look back as they held that lead until winning the set 25-22.
It was a very back-and-forth second set, with no team leading by more than two or three points for the majority of the battle. DC held a 22-20 lead late in the set, however the hosts would score five unanswered points to take it 25-22.
That would be the only set win for the Coyotes on the day, as the Lords followed it up with back-to-back dominant 25-16 wins to win it all in four.
Amanda Larsen (Toronto, ON) had an afternoon to remember, blocking a career-high 13 shots on the day as she led her team to a four-set win with 20.0 points. She also added seven kills, an assist and a dig.
Durham had a grand total of 66 digs, with 14 from Aislinn Pedersen (Hamilton, ON), 13 from Alisia Lush (Lyalta, AB) and 11 from Stefanie Ciz (Cambridge, ON) to lead the way. Ciz generated 34 assists, only second to her 37 assist performance against Canadore earlier this month.
Pedersen and Chelsea Oke (Brooklin, ON) were in double-digit territory for kills, with 11 and 10, respectively.
Tia Chang (Markham, ON) and her five blocks were also a season-high for the second year player.
Now 13-3 on the season, the Lords wrap up a four-match road trip on Wednesday evening with a trip to Peterborough to take on the Fleming Phoenix at 6:00 PM.
