Box Score PETERBOROUGH, ON - Defeating the Fleming Phoenix in straight sets on Wednesday evening, the Durham College women's volleyball team win their third straight heading into the regular season finale.
It was a quick first set in Peterborough with the Lords taking it 25-15 before an even quicker second set saw the Lords on fire to win it 25-11.
Fleming battled back in the third, doing their best to try to delay defeat but a 25-19 win for the visitors gave Durham their seventh 3-0 win of the 2023-24 season.
The reigning athlete of the week, Amanda Larsen (Toronto, ON), came to play again on Wednesday - leading her team in kills with seven on nine attempts and blocks with five. Larsen was also tied with Jayde Smyth (Canmore, AB) for the team lead in service aces with two.
Tia Chang (Markham, ON) had a strong showing with five kills to add to her blocks at the net.
When the ball came back over the net, Chelsea Oke (Brooklin, ON) and Smyth were regularly there to bump it back up. Smyth finished the night with eight digs while seven were recorded for Oke.
In the three-set match, Brooke Young (Chestermere, AB) assisted 19 times.
Durham will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 3 as the Lords host the Loyalist Lancers at 1:00 PM. The game will begin following a special ceremony that celebrates our outgoing graduating seniors.
