Box Score PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Durham College men's volleyball team open their season with a win, finishing the Fleming Phoenix in only three sets.
After Durham took the first set 25-16, the Phoenix showed more fight in the following frame but still fell short as the Lords came out on top 25-19.
The third set was the quickest, with the Lords finishing the job 25-14 to take it in straight sets.
Piet Kuypers was dominant in his return to DC, recording 10 kills on 15 attempts.Â
Additionally, Ryan McGilvray, Tyler Jegen, Trent Engel and Will Doucet each registered five or more kills on the night.
Kyle Travis finished the three-set night with 20 assists, with eight other players adding assists to their stat lines.Â
Durham finished the evening with six service aces, with two coming from Doucet. Digs were evenly distributed throughout the squad, with 11 players recording digs, including nine who had three or more.
The Lords are off to the nation's capital next weekend to take on the Algonquin Wolves and La Cité Coyotes before returning to the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre for their home opener against the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday, October 30 at 8:00 PM.
