SARNIA, Ont. - The Durham Lords return home from the 2024 OCAA Men's Baseball Championship with a bronze medal for the second consecutive year.
It was an early day for the Lords on Saturday with a bronze medal showdown at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning after a loss to the Lambton Lions and a win over the Centennial Colts on Friday sent them looking for a backdoor entry to the gold medal game via the bronze route.
In a rematch against the Lions in the bronze medal game, Lambton had a lead before Durham went up to bat after a solo home run in the top of the first put the championship hosts ahead.
It was a low scoring affair through most of the game, Lambton added another run in the third and eventually went into the sixth inning with a 2-0 lead. The Lions scored a combined five runs in the final two frames to put an end to Durham's season in 7-0 fashion.
As a result, the Lords took home bronze as Lambton moved onto the gold medal game which the St. Clair Saints would go on to win 4-2.
This result marks Durham's fifth medal season since entering OCAA baseball in 2013 and their eighth medal in all competitions in program history.
