SCARBOROUGH, Ont. - A late offensive breakthrough by the Centennial Colts handed the Lords their second consecutive loss in women's soccer on Wednesday evening.
Lilah Harnett scored her first goal of the season to take the lead in the 12th minute over an OCAA-leading Colts side. Despite being outshot 9-2 in the opening half, Keyara Lindell stood tall to help keep the lead for the Lords heading into halftime.
Only five minutes into the second half, the Colts finally found the back of the net to bring the score line level.
In the 63rd minute, Erin Michalicka sent the ball flying into the box on a free kick that was redirected to the foot of Sage Thomas-Roberts, who put it past the keeper to take the lead back. That would be goal number 41 on the season for Sage, coming within one goal of tying Katie Watts for the Durham College women's soccer record for career goals with two regular season matches remaining.
Centennial rode a wave of momentum after tying the game once again in the 77th minute, scoring three goals in eight minutes to take a 4-2 lead and secure the win.
The Lords are back in action in Belleville next Wednesday against the Loyalist Lancers before returning home for their regular season finale and graduating seniors day on Saturday, October 12 against the Colts at 1:00 PM.
