KING CITY, Ont. - In a match that stretched to five sets, the Durham Lords women's volleyball team showed fight until the very end in a 3-2 loss to the Seneca Sting.
The match opened with Durham claiming the first set 25-19, but Seneca bounced back in the second set, winning 25-22. The Lords responded in the third set with a decisive 25-18 victory, before Seneca fought back to take the fourth set 25-21, forcing a fifth set to decide the winner.Â
In the final frame, Seneca edged out Durham 15-12 to clinch the match.
Elizabeth McFarland registered 12 kills, three service aces and a solo block for 16.0 points on the night.
Brooke Young was instrumental in directing the offence, finishing with 35 assists and two aces.
The Lords put in a strong defensive performance, tallying 76 digs and five total blocks. Chelsea Oke led the team in digs with 16, while McFarland contributed 14 digs and Alisia Lush added 12. Jessie Buck was also a force at the net, leading the team with three solo blocks.
