OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's volleyball team showcased their strength with an emphatic 3-1 victory over the Centennial Colts on Tuesday night, improving their season record to 6-2.
With balanced offensive firepower and strong defence, the Lords controlled the match, taking the first set 25-21 before dropping the second 22-25 and bouncing back for a pair of 25-13 wins to end it in four.
Elizabeth McFarland was the standout performer for the Lords, leading the team with 13 kills on 23 attempts for an outstanding .522 hitting percentage.
Jessie Buck added to the offensive dominance with eight kills on 16 attempts, hitting at an impressive .500, while also contributing four service aces and five solo blocks, making her presence felt both offensively and defensively.
Aislinn Pedersen and Chelsea Oke also chipped in with eight kills each, providing additional depth to Durham's attack. The Lords finished the match with a .324 team hitting percentage.
Durham's defence was equally impressive, recording 62 digs and 12 total blocks to stifle the Colts' offence. Oke and Pedersen anchored the back row with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
