Lords defence force 27 turnovers in tight victory

KINGSTON, Ont. - The Durham Lords women's basketball team showcased their defensive prowess in a gritty 49-48 win against the St. Lawrence Surge on Saturday afternoon.

Durham jumped out to an early lead, outscoring St. Lawrence 19-13 in the first quarter. They maintained their defensive intensity in the second quarter, limiting the Surge to just eight points. However, St. Lawrence made a push in the second half, closing the gap, but Durham held their composure to seal the win in the final moments.

The Lords' defence was the driving force behind the win, forcing 27 turnovers and racking up 16 steals.

Telia Campbell led the defensive effort with six steals and added seven rebounds. Letyjah Wilson and Camryn Wood were also forces on the board, both pulling down nine rebounds.

Taige Matosas-Adderley was the offensive standout for the Lords, leading all scorers with 19 points. She hit two three-pointers and added three free throws, providing much-needed offence.

The Lords have one game remaining before the holiday break, which will take place on Wednesday, November 27 at 6:00 PM against the George Brown Huskies at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.
