KINGSTON, ON - After leading at halftime, the St. Lawrence Surge caught fire in the second half, handing the Durham Lords an 84-62 loss.
St. Lawrence led after one quarter of play, outscoring the visiting Lords 15-11 through 10 minutes of play.
In the second quarter, Durham looked like an entirely different team. The Lords took their first lead of the game with a layup from Telia Campbell (Pickering, ON) with 5:15 to go in the half to make it 21-19.Â
This was in the midst of a 15-0 run for the Lords that put them up by 10 with two minutes to play. Campbell and Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) added buckets in the final minute to go into halftime with a 36-22 lead.
After outscoring the hosts 25-7 in the second quarter, fortunes totally flipped in the third. While the Lords were held to only nine points, the Surge put up a game-high 35.
St. Lawrence's hot streak continued into the fourth, with the hosts scoring another 27 points to defeat the Lords.
Campbell, the reigning athlete of the week, finished the game as the team-leader in points with 16 points. She also added six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
Glendinning was a standout player with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Onika Leveridge (Scarborough, ON) was the third player on the team in double-digit territory with 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Camryn Wood (Uxbridge, ON) picked up 12 rebounds in the game.
The Lords return home for their regular season finale on Friday, February 9 at 6:00 PM against the Algonquin Wolves. Prior to the game, we will have our annual graduating seniors ceremony.
