OSHAWA, ON - The Durham College women's basketball team completed their 2023-24 OCAA regular season schedule on Friday evening, falling 55-31 to an undefeated Algonquin Wolves.
Durham kept it close early on against the number two team in the country, even leading over six minutes into the opening quarter. Algonquin got hot late and an 8-2 run gave them a six-point lead after 10 minutes.
Algonquin piled on in the second quarter, outscoring the Lords by 12 to take a 34-16 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lords found a spark on the back of Onika Leveridge (Scarborough, ON) who scored five points in the quarter. The Lords had their most productive quarter with 11 points, while holding Algonquin to their fewest points in a frame on the night with 10.
The Wolves found a way to suffocate the Durham offence again in the fourth and final quarter, closing out the game with a 55-31 win.
Leveridge was the team leader in points with 20, along with five assists. Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) put up eight points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Camryn Wood (Uxbridge, ON) led the team in rebounds with eight, while Telia Campbell (Pickering, ON) and her seven were not far behind.
