OSHAWA, Ont. - Lords add a versatile infielder ahead of the 2024-25 season as Evan Chong commits to the Durham College men's baseball program.
Chong, a 5-foot-10 third basemen from Markham, spent nearly a decade in the Markham District Baseball Association with the Mariners. His teams ultimately appeared in three provincial finals over that time.
The last few years has seen Chong compete with the Newmarket Hawks under head coach Jamie Comper, finishing as Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) finalists in 2022.
During the 2023 season, Chong was an incredible contributor in the lineup, registering a batting average of .600 on the year.
Chong is described as a versatile player. Primarily playing at third base, he is also capable of playing at second base, as well as catching and pitching if called upon.
Set to graduate from Markham District High School, Evan will be studying in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Techniques program at Durham this fall.
