OSHAWA, Ont. - For the first time in Campus Cup history, the Durham College men's and women's soccer teams both claim the title in the same year against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.

The start of the 2024-25 academic year saw over 1,300 fans gather at Vaso's Field for the annual Campus Cup, taking in beautiful weather, free swag and lots of fun right on campus.

In the women's game, the Lords opened the scoring in the final minute of the first half as newcomer Kate Honsberger found the back of the net to give her team the lead.

Just over three minutes into the second half, the captain Chloe Hercia doubled the lead for the Lords to send the green and gold faithful into a frenzy.

Ontario Tech responded only moments later to bring themselves within one, however the Lords were able to hold onto their lead to win their first Campus Cup title since 2012.

The Lords jumped to an early lead in the men's game as Deandre Watkis opened the scoring only 35 seconds into the match.

Teagan Marks added another for Durham to give the Lords a comfortable 2-0 lead. Things became less comfortable quickly as the nationally ranked Ridgebacks put two in the net right before halftime to tie things up again.

Nathan Harrison-Blowers, the homegrown talent and freshman player, scored the winner for the Lords to secure back-to-back Campus Cup victories for the men's program.

With exhibition play now behind them, the soccer teams will play their home opener against the Seneca Sting on Saturday, September 7 at Vaso's Field. The women kick-off at 1:00 PM, followed by the men at 3:15 PM.
