OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords secured an impressive victory over the Centennial Colts, defeating the visitors 66-61 in a thrilling contest at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre (CRWC).

Sarah Laplante was the standout for Durham, putting up a stellar performance with 31 points on 12-of-20 shooting, including a scorching 7-for-11 from beyond the arc. Laplante's scoring barrage, particularly in the second and fourth quarters, proved instrumental in the Lords maintaining their lead and fending off Centennial's late-game push.

With 31 points, Laplante had the highest scoring individual performance of any player for the Lords this season, surpassing the previous high of 19.

Emma Bergen was a force in the paint, recording a double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Bergen dominated the boards, pulling down 13 defensive rebounds to send the ball moving the other way.

Bergen's 18 rebound performance surpassed the previous single-game high set by a Lord this season with 17 on October 22.

Telia Campbell contributed across the board with nine assists, seven rebounds, and a key defensive presence.

Emily Balkissoon added seven points, five assists, and three steals while connecting on two three-pointers to provide additional support in the backcourt.

Onika Leveridge had a strong presence on the boards, grabbing ten rebounds and playing tough defence throughout the game. 

Taige Matosas-Adderley chipped in five points and five rebounds, helping to solidify the Lords' inside game.

Durham's defence was crucial to their success, as they forced 14 turnovers and recorded nine steals. While Centennial mounted a comeback attempt late in the fourth quarter, Durham's defensive composure and efficient shooting from beyond the arc, where they shot an impressive 41.7%, helped seal the win.

The Lords will play their final home game of the regular season on Friday, January 31 against the St. Lawrence Surge in the CRWC at 6:00 PM before wrapping up the schedule on a two-game road trip.
