Lords win second straight with 82-47 victory over Surge

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords win back-to-back games this week with a 82-47 victory over St. Lawrence in front of the home crowd.

The Lords built a commanding 27-13 lead in the first quarter and stretched their advantage to 50-20 by halftime. Though St. Lawrence showed more fight in the third quarter, outscoring Durham 18-15, the Lords responded with a solid fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Taige Matosas-Adderley led the way for Durham with a stellar performance, contributing 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including three three-pointers. She also added four assists, three rebounds, and two steals, providing key plays throughout the game.

Emma Bergen was a force in the paint, recording a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while shooting an efficient 5-for-7 from the field. Bergen's inside presence set the tone early as the Lords dominated the paint with 50 points.

Onika Leveridge was another standout, finishing with 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Leveridge's efficient 6-for-8 shooting and defensive presence helped the Lords maintain control of the game.

Emily Balkissoon contributed eight points, hitting one three-pointer and adding three assists and two rebounds. Telia Campbell was a floor general for Durham, dishing out 10 assists while scoring six points and grabbing four rebounds.

The Lords' defence was stifling, forcing St. Lawrence into 30 turnovers and recording 17 steals. Camryn Wood was a key factor defensively, collecting 10 rebounds and four steals while adding six points.

Durham held St. Lawrence to just 21.3% shooting from the field and 8.0% from beyond the arc, keeping the visitors from ever finding an offensive rhythm.

Durham's offensive execution was highlighted by 31 assists on 33 made field goals. The team shot 43.4% from the floor and 33.3% from three-point range, capitalizing on their strong ball movement. Their bench also made significant contributions, adding 27 points.

With this win, Durham remains undefeated in conference play, demonstrating the depth and consistency that has defined their season. They will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming games as they continue to push for a top playoff position.

Improving to 5-7 on the season, the Lords will wrap up their regular season campaign with a two-game road trip to Barrie and Toronto next week.
