OTTAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords women's basketball team came up short on the road Friday night, falling 61-44 to the Algonquin Wolves in Ottawa on Friday night.
Sarah Laplante paced Durham with a team-high 20 points, including three triples and a 10-point outburst in the fourth quarter that helped the Lords close the gap late.
Camryn Wood added eight points, four rebounds, and an assist in a steady two-way effort, while Taniya Hutchinson also chipped in eight points, three steals, and two assists off the bench to provide energy on both ends.
Aiesha Lewis anchored the interior with a 12-rebound performance, cleaning the glass to limit second-chance looks for the Wolves. Kathy Orellana added six points and an assist, while Telia Campbell contributed across the stat sheet with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
The Wolves shot 37.3% from the floor and hit nine threes to maintain control.
Durham returns to regular season action on Friday, November 7 win Barrie against the Georgian Grizzlies at 6:00 PM.
