OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords delivered their most complete performance of the season on Friday night, taking control early and cruising to a 58-35 win over the St. Lawrence Surge at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.
After a tight opening quarter, Durham broke the game open with a dominant 27-point second frame, building a lead they protected the rest of the way through steady scoring and sharp defensive pressure.
Sarah-Jane Laplante led all players with 22 points on nine made field goals, including three from deep, while adding six rebounds.
Kathy Orellana followed with 10 points, two threes and three steals, and Telia Campbell contributed seven points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in an all-around effort.
Durham's defensive intensity proved to be the difference, forcing 29 turnovers and turning those mistakes into 24 points.
Camryn Wood led that charge with five steals, while Beatrice Johnson anchored the interior with nine rebounds.
Aiesha Lewis and Taniya Hutchinson each added five points, with Lewis also pulling down six boards.
The Lords held St. Lawrence to single-digit scoring in two quarters and outscored the Surge 22-12 in the paint.
Durham have one game left on the schedule before the holiday break, rounding out their fall semester on home court against the Loyalist Lancers on Tuesday, November 25 at 6:00 PM.
