Lords open winter semester with a road win

SCARBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham Lords opened the second half of the season with a 53-45 road win over the Centennial Colts on Tuesday night.

Durham set the tone early, building a lead behind strong defensive pressure and efficient scoring in the opening half. 

The Lords held Centennial to just seven points in the second quarter and maintained control throughout, answering every push with timely stops.

Aiesha Lewis led Durham with 11 points and 10 rebounds, recording a double-double while anchoring the Lords on both ends of the floor. 

Destinee Archer added 11 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting in her debut, providing a spark and helping Durham maintain its edge.

Sarah-Jane Laplante chipped in 10 points, knocking down two shots from beyond the arc, while Telia Campbell contributed six points, three assists and two steals in a high effort performance. 

As a team, Durham held Centennial to 22.6% shooting from the field and just 10.7 percent from three-point range. 

The Lords also received a strong contribution from their bench, outscoring the Colts 27-13, and built their lead to as much as seventeen.

The win marks a positive start for the interim coaching staff and sets the tone as conference play continues.
