OTTAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords men's volleyball team delivered a composed road performance on Sunday in the nation's capital, defeating the La Cité Coyotes in three sets.
Durham set the tone early in the opening set, establishing control at the net and applying steady pressure from the service line. The Lords remained patient offensively in the second set, continuing to spread the ball across the court while limiting errors.
Durham closed the match efficiently, sealing the straight-sets victory on the road.
Offensively, the Lords produced an efficient performance, hitting .275 as a team while recording 36 kills.
Jonas Felix led the way with 13 kills on 18 attempts, finishing the match with an impressive .667 attack percentage.
Jalen Arias directed the offence throughout the afternoon, dishing out 32 assists and keeping the attack in rhythm.
At the net, Durham made its presence felt with eight total blocks, limiting La Cité's scoring opportunities and forcing difficult swings. The Lords also showed composure in serve-receive and transition play, allowing them to control the tempo of the match from start to finish.
Owen Lunn stood out with six kills, two service aces and a pair of blocks, while Sidney Stuart added four kills and three blocks of his own for 7.0 points.
The Lords are back on the court on Wednesday, January 28 at 8 p.m. as the Seneca Sting come to town.
