BELLEVILLE, Ont. - The Durham College men's volleyball team wrapped up its road stand on Wednesday night with a straight-sets loss to the Loyalist Lancers.
The opening set saw Loyalist build an early lead, putting pressure on Durham's serve receive and transition game.
Durham settled in as the match progressed and showed their best stretch in the second set, trading points deep into the frame. Durham stayed within reach late and pushed Loyalist to the final points before the hosts closed it out 25-23.
Loyalist, however, found consistency offensively in the third set and pulled away to secure the match.
Offensively, Durham was led by Ryan McGilvray, who posted a team-high 13 kills on 22 attempts while hitting .545.
Will Doucet added six kills on 11 swings, while Shane Poleon was efficient with four kills on five attempts.
Jalen Arias contributed four kills and played a major role in setting up the offence, finishing with 24 assists.
At the net, Owen Lunn recorded all three solo blocks for the Lords, helping Durham challenge Loyalist's hitters throughout the match.
Defensively, Ravi Hunter and McGilvray led the backcourt with seven digs apiece, while Jonas Felix and Poleon combined for five.
The Lords look ahead to Saturday, February 7 where they will host the Fleming Phoenix in their regular season finale at 3 p.m.
