OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham's women's volleyball team earned a straight-sets victory over Fleming on Saturday afternoon, winning 25-14; 25-15; 25-12 at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre. The Lords finish the regular season with a 14-2 record with the win.
The Lords set the tone early in the opening set, using strong serve pressure and consistent offence to build separation. Durham controlled the pace throughout the frame and closed it out comfortably at 25-14.
Durham continued its momentum in the second set, maintaining steady ball control and limiting Fleming's scoring opportunities. Balanced attacking and solid defensive coverage helped the Lords secure another decisive 25-15 win and take a two-set lead.
In the third set, Durham remained focused and aggressive, continuing to apply pressure from the service line and at the net. The hosts pulled away midway through the frame and finished the match with a 25-12 victory to complete the sweep.
Offensively, Durham was led by
Brooke Young,
Elizabeth McFarland and
Tia Chang who each finished with 9.0 points. Young recorded six kills on nine attempts while adding 20 assists, two service aces and six digs in a strong all-around performance. McFarland added eight kills and four digs, hitting .500 on the afternoon. Chang finishing with five kills and four service aces.
Jessie Buck provided 8.0 points with four kills, two solo blocks and two aces.
Veronika Cavojska added four kills and four digs, and
Maxine Felsbourg chipped in with three kills, a service ace and 10 digs.
Lyndsay Boon added three kills and two blocks on the day.
Defensively, Durham was consistent across all three sets, recording 44 digs and eight total blocks.
Alisia Lush led the back court with 11 digs, while Felsbourg and Young combined for 16.
As a team, the Lords hit .380 and limited Fleming to a .068 attack percentage, controlling play in all phases of the match.
Placing second in the OCAA's east division, the Lords have earned the right to host their championship qualifier on Saturday, February 14 against the seventh-seeded Conestoga Condors at 1 p.m.
