Samantha Chatwood commits to DC women's soccer

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's soccer team continue to build toward the 2026-27 season with the addition of Samantha Chatwood.

The Belleville, Ont. native brings versatility to the Lords' lineup, capable of contributing as a striker, winger, or in the midfield. Standing at five-foot-four, Chatwood combines pace, skill, and attacking instinct, giving Durham multiple options in the final third.

For Chatwood, the decision to join Durham came down to both academics and atmosphere.

"I chose Durham College because it was one of the few schools that offered my program," she said. "After touring the campus, I loved the vibe and the feel of the soccer team after following them online."

Chatwood arrives with a strong club background, currently competing in the Ottawa Carleton Soccer League with Atlético Kingston's U21 side. In her most recent season, she finished as the league's 11th-leading goal scorer while also leading her club in goals. Prior to that, she spent three years developing with Kingston Belleville Football Club.

"Sam is the kind of player who just finds a way to get involved in the attack," said Head Coach Bruce Cullen. "She's comfortable in a few different positions, which is really valuable for us, and she has a good feel for the game in those key moments. We like her work rate, we like her mindset, and we're looking forward to seeing what she can bring to our group."

Known for her ability to find space and create scoring chances, she has proven to be a consistent offensive threat throughout her career. Whether playing up front or out wide, Chatwood brings a level of creativity and composure that fits well within Durham's attacking system.

Her most memorable moment on the pitch came in dramatic fashion, scoring the winning goal in the final seconds of the Gaels Cup final to secure the title for her team.

Set to graduate from St. Theresa Secondary School in June, she will be entering the Interior Decorating program this fall.
