Durham College Athletics

OSHAWA, Ont. – Jessica Joensen (Pickering, Ont.) of the women's volleyball team and Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.) of the men's basketball team have been named Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending January 7.
 
Hinckson Jr., a second-year PSI student, posted some of his best numbers of the season in the George Brown College New Year's Classic, including 13 points and 16 rebounds in the Lords' semifinal OT loss to the host Huskies. In the opening game Durham picked up their first opening game victory in three years, 86-75 over the Georgian Grizzlies, led by Hinckson Jr. with 25 points.
 
This week the basketball teams open the second half of their season at Seneca on Friday night, while the volleyball teams return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
 
The Durham College athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
