Walters, Wood named Durham College athletes of the week
OSHAWA, Ont. – Brittany Walters (Oshawa, Ont.) and Harrison Wood (Nebraska, U.S.) have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending Nov. 8.
Walters, a paramedic major, had a career-high 20 points for the women’s basketball team in their 77-66 victory over the Loyalist Lancers on Friday night at home, which included 12 second half points. The forward also had eight offensive rebounds, 12 total, for her first double-double at Durham College.
The women’s basketball team is now off until Nov. 20 when they host the Algonquin Thunder at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Wood, a first-year electrical engineering student, led the Lords men’s volleyball team in multiple categories on Saturday in their straight set victory over the Algonquin Thunder. He finished the match with 10 kills, two service aces and two blocks. His point total ties his season-high of 14. Wood also leads the team in points per set with 3.9 through four matches played.
The men’s volleyball team is on the road in North Bay this Saturday to face the Canadore Panthers (1-4). First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
