Box Score Lords can't put an end to Georgian's winning streak
OCAA Women's Volleyball: Georgian defeated Durham 3-1
BARRIE, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team could not find a way to stop the red-hot Georgian Grizzlies Friday night as they were beat by a score of 3-1.
Georgian has won six straight games as they improve to 7-1 in conference action and 4-0 on home court.
After getting blasted in the first set 25-9, Durham was able to rebound with a 25-19 victory in set two. Unfortunately for the Lords, that was their lone set victory of the night as Georgian took the next two by scores of 25-19 and 25-15.
The 25-19 loss was only the second set Georgian has dropped in their current six match winning streak.
Durham outside hitter
Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) recorded 10 kills and one aces for a team-high 11 points. In six of Durham's seven matches, Broad has scored in double-digits. She entered the match second in OCAA east region scoring averaging 4.4 points per set.
Lords sophomore
Madison Pilon (Rondeau, Ont.) registered five kills and two aces in the loss and
Meghan Renwick (Brooklin, Ont.) had 23 assists and seven digs.
Durham had a tough time handling Georgian's serves as they combined for 24 aces. Erin McClean and Hannah Campbell had eight and seven aces respectively.
Durham slips to sixth place in the standings holding a 3-5 record. The Lords will look to rebound in Belleville next Wednesday night when they take on the Loyalist Lancers (1-6). Game-time at the Lancerdome in 6 p.m.
