Durham women's volleyball sweeps Fleming 3-0

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team got back in the win column with a 3-0 victory over the Fleming Knights.

Thursday's victory in Peterborough was lopsided as the Lords won by sets scores of 25-12, 25-10 and 25-23.

Whitby natives Emily Gilbert and Rayan Bourne emerged as the Lords top performers combining for 14 points. Gilbert was unstoppable from the service line with five aces to go along with three kills. Bourne finished the night with four kills and two aces.

The win marks only Durham's second on the road this season as they are 2-4 away from home. With a 6-6 conference record, the Lords are tied for fifth place in the OCAA eastern conference standings with the Algonquin Thunder. Fleming falls to 0-11 on the year.

Durham will return to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre a week from tonight as they host the George Brown Huskies on Thursday, January 23. The Huskies are 5-6 this season and defeated Durham 3-2 in Toronto earlier in the year. First serve is at 6 p.m.

Durham College is proud to host the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship (Feb. 20-22, 2014) and the OCAA Volleyball/Basketball All-Star Games (Mar. 22, 2014) at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
