Durham College defeats Canadore 3-1 OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team is rollin', rollin', rollin'.
They won their third straight match on Saturday night, a 3-1 victory over the Canadore Panthers.
After losing the first set 25-18, the Lords had a huge second set. They tied the match 1-1 with a 25-16 victory.
Leading 16-8 in the third set, it looked like Canadore might take it when they closed the gap to a point (22-21).
After a timeout by the Lords they only allowed one more point before winning the set 25-22.
The fourth was led by Candore until Durham tied it 22-22. The teams traded points, with the Panthers holding the advantage until the Lords went ahead 29-28. Eventually they took the set 31-29 to win the match.
Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) led Durham College with 16 kills and 10 digs, while
Melissa Semeniuk (Pickering, Ont.) led the team with four blocks.
Tess Newey (Hampton, Ont.) and
Emily Hacker (Cobourg, Ont.) each added seven kills.
On the other side of the court, Caitlin Hebert's 15 kills led Canadore. Liarra Marchand added 11 kills.
