Box Score SCARBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team has opened the OCAA season with a 3-0 victory over the Centennial Colts.
Thursday's conference matches were the first for the program at Centennial in over 20 years as volleyball has been reintroduced as a varsity sport for the Colts this year.
The Lords spoiled the festivities though, starting with a 25-9 first set victory. Durham followed with 25-22 and 25-21 wins to take the match.
Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) led Durham with seven kills and a service ace, while
Lucia Kalmeyer (Oshawa, Ont.) had four kills in the match.
Durham College will now prepare for their weekend road trip to Peterborough where they will take on the Fleming Knights on Sunday. The Lords home opener is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29 against the George Brown Huskies. First serve is 6 p.m. in Gyms 1/2 of the CRWC.
