NORTH YORK, Ont. – On Tuesday night the Durham College men's baseball team completed their doubleheader with the Seneca Sting that was started Friday, Sept. 11.
In the first game the Lords and Sting entered the game tied 8-8 in the eighth inning of play. Both teams scored in the eighth to second the game to the ninth tied 9-9.
Durham would take the lead again in the top half of the inning with solo home runs by
Jake Legros (Whitby, Ont.) and
Dylan Harkness (Bowmanville, Ont.).
Paul Zettler picked up the win with 2.2 innings of work Tuesday night. He allowed one run on no hits and three walks, while striking out four batters.
Ilija Bozinovski (Ajax, Ont.) pitched six innings for the Lords, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits. He struck out six batters during his outing on Sept. 11.
Cole Casford (Kingston, Ont.) pitched a third of an inning, during which he allowed two earned runs and one hit, while walking three batters.
At the plate
Riley Davies (Innisfil, Ont.) was 2-for-3 with a double, three walks and three RBIs to lead the team offensively.
Jack Lang (Pickering, Ont.) also had three RBIs in the game and was 3-for-5 with one run scored, three doubles and one walk.
The second half of the doubleheader to be completed started with the Lords down 9-5 through four innings. They were unable to bounce back as they lost 11-6.
Jordan Edmonds (Horsham, U.K.) took the loss for Durham after allowing four earned runs on six hits and four walks over three innings. He also struck out four batters.
Austin Hillier (Ponty Pool, Ont.) also pitched three innings. He gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out five.
At the plate
Anthony Colitti (Brantford, Ont.) led the Lords offense with two RBIs, while going 2-for-3 with one run scored and one walk.
Durham has little time before their next games as they travel to George Brown on Wednesday night for a doubleheader against the Huskies.
