Cambrian hands Lords first loss of the season

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer undefeated season has come to and end after a loss at home on Saturday to Cambrian College.

Shalena Ackerman (Pickering, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Lords in the 17th minute of the match, a lead Durham held into the second half.

As if the field was tilted, when the two teams switched sides, Cambrian took over the possession game that Durham had in the first half. Just six minutes into the second half Clarissa McArthur beat an outstretched Olivia McMullen (Oshawa, Ont.) to tie the game 1-1.

McArthur struck again in the 70th minute to put Cambrian ahead 2-1. Although the Lords had a multiple chances in their late second half push, they were unable to earn a point for the first time this season.

McMullen made six saves in the loss for the Lords, while Megan Coutu turned aside six Durham shots to earn the win for Cambrian.

The Lords women's soccer team is back in action at home on Tuesday night as they face the Loyalist Lancers. Kick-off is 6 p.m.
