Box Score TORONTO, Ont. – Jessica Broad of Courtice, Ont. recorded her 489th kill as a Durham Lord on Saturday afternoon to become the college's all-time career leader.
In Durham's 3-0 victory over George Brown, Broad registered seven kills to pass Mandi Doris who had 484 in her five-year career. Broad has 125 this season and ranks third in the province.
Despite falling behind in every set, Durham managed to earn their 12
th win and eighth 3-0 sweep of the year. Set scores were 25-22, 26-24 and 25-18.
Durham has been red hot since their lone loss having won eight straight conference games to improve to 12-1 and remain in first place in the OCAA eastern conference standings. During the eight game win-streak, Durham has only dropped four sets.
The Lords' offence was spread out throughout the line-up as Broad,
Stephanie Larose (Whitby, Ont.),
Kristen Curtis (Frankford, Ont.) and
Emily Hacker (Cobourg, Ont.) all had at least six kills.
Megan Romain (Ajax, Ont.) had 20 assists for Durham.
Defensively,
Camille Lefaive (Whitby, Ont.) and Larose led the way with nine and eight digs respectively.
Next up for Durham is a home match on Thursday night against the Trent Excalibur (10-3). Trent enters the match on a win streak of their own having won five straight matches. Durham beat the Excalibur 3-2 in their only other meeting this season in Peterborough.
