Box Score OTTAWA, Ont. – It wasn't pretty but the Durham College women's volleyball team managed to pull off their 10
th straight win with a 3-2 road victory over Algonquin.
In the fifth and deciding set, Durham trailed 7-5 after Algonquin was red hot from the service line. When the Lords finally managed to stop the rally,
Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) shifted the momentum in the match recording back-to-back aces to give Durham an 8-7 lead.
Durham's run continued down the stretch as
Lucia Kalmeyer (Oshawa, Ont.) had a block and a kill, followed by
Kristen Curtis (Frankford, Ont.) recording the match-winning point with one of her nine kills on the night.
The Lords had to have comeback mentality the entire night after losing the first set 25-19 and third set 25-18. After a loss, Durham would dominate the following set winning by scores of 25-13 and 25-15.
Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) was Durham's leading scorer with 19 kills while Broad finished with 10 kills and four aces. Curtis was amazing at the net with nine blocks, as she leads the OCAA with 54 this season.
Durham is 14-1 on the season and is tied with the Canadore Panthers for first place in the OCAA east region. The Panthers are currently riding a six-game win-streak.
The Lords will look to extend their win-streak to 11 games on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they take on La Cite.
