Box Score OTTAWA, Ont. – After their last major road trip of the regular season the Durham College women's volleyball team are in the driver's seat – pun completely intended.
The Lords left the nation's capital on Saturday with four important points, which puts them in sole possession of first place in the OCAA east division. Durham earned them with their 3-2 win over Algonquin on Friday, followed by Saturday's 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-11) sweep of the La Cité Coyotes.
Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) led Durham with 14 kills against La Cité, while adding a service ace and block for a game-high 16 points.
Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) continued to be her reliable self with seven kills and two blocks. The team's blocks leader,
Kristen Curtis (Frankford, Ont.), picked up two blocks and two kills in the match.
For the Coyotes it was Stephanie Peladeau leading the pack with six kills and four service aces.
Durham now holds a two-point advantage over the Canadore Panthers for first in the OCAA east division. Canadore already has a bye to the OCAA championship as hosts, meaning that the Lords six-point spread over the third place Trent Excalibur holds the most significance as they fight for the second bye from the east division.
Tuesday night the Lords will return to the CRWC to host the Fleming Knights at 6 p.m. before returning taking on the Canadore Panthers Sunday at 1 p.m.
