WINDSOR, Ont. – After having both doubleheaders against the Saint Clair Saints postponed, the Durham College baseball team finally was able to get a game in against their OCAA rivals.
In a pitchers duel to start the day,
Brodie Harkness (Bowmanville, Ont.) took the 1-0 loss on the mound for the Lords. Harkness went six innings, allowing no earned runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out seven St. Clair batters.
Kadeev Bembridge (Whitby, Ont.) led Durham at the plate going 2-for-2 with a double.
In the second game the offence was big for both teams as the Lords were on the winning end of a 10-9 game.
Jake Legros (Whitby, Ont.) was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a double and a triple for Durham, while Harkness was 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Spencer Edwards (Vineland, Ont.) was 1-for-2 with two RBI, a run scored, double and a walk.
On the mound
Shaun Slemko (Courtice, Ont.) got the start, going 5.1 innings. He allowed eight runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk.
Alec Brown (Bowmanville, Ont.) would be named the winning pitcher, throwing 1.2 innings in relief. He struck out one Saint and only allowed one hit and three walks to close out St. Clair and split the day.
