OSHAWA, Ont. – For the first time since 2009-10, the Durham College women's basketball team has started the season with three straight wins.
The Lords defeated the Georgian Grizzlies 70-39 tonight at the CRWC to start the season 3-0.
Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) was her usual self, dropping 23 points to lead Durham's offence – alongside a game-high six rebounds.
Katiesha Brissett (Pickering, Ont.) was the only other Lord to reach double-digits in scoring, dropping 10 points with five boards.
For the Grizzlies it was Jessica Stockdale leading their offence. She dropped 10, while Leah Bracken scored six and had six boards.
Durham led for the entire game, really pulling away from Georgian after outscoring them 16-6 in the second quarter to lead 39-20 at half. In the third they held the Grizzlies to only four points to extend the lead Georgian 52-24 heading into the fourth.
The Lords will now take their perfect start to Belleville on Tuesday when Durham faces the Loyalist Lancers. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
Durham will then travel to Kingston on Friday to face the St. Lawrence Vikings who also started conference play with a 3-0 record.
