HALIFAX, N.S. – The Durham College women's volleyball team wrapped up their trip to the east coast with a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Holland College on Sunday afternoon.
After going 1-3 to open the weekend the Lords capped off their weekend on a positive note by defeating their CCAA opponent from Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) led Durham with 11 kills, three aces and 16 digs, while
Shannon Dean (Whitby, Ont.) had seven kills and five aces.
Madison Marsh-Collis (Pickering, Ont.) wasn't far off Marshall's defensive numbers as she picked up 15 digs in the match.
After starting the match slowly, down eight points midway through the opening set, Durham bounced back to win the first 25-22.
Holland came back to win the second 25-20 before the Lords started rolling with their momentum to easily take the following two sets 25-18 and 25-19.
"This weekend was a lot of volleyball and a lot of time together to open the season as a team, but now we can use this to maintain our momentum throughout the month of October," said head coach
Tony Clarke. "There is still lots of work to do before February, but I'm happy with what we saw over three days in Halifax."
Durham will now host the Mohawk Mountaineers on Wednesday night at the CRWC. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Gyms 1/2.
