OSHAWA, Ont. – The host Durham College women's volleyball team is 3-0 after the opening day of the 29
th Annual Adidas Cup.
Durham opened the day with straight set victories over the Fleming Knights (25-19, 25-8) and the Western Mustangs JV team (25-16, 25-10).
After the opening round of pool play – the teams were reseeded with the Lords lining up against the Algonquin Thunder in their closest match of the day. Durham came out on top in the best two-of-three match, winning 25-22 and 29-27.
Saturday they wrap up pool play against the Centennial Colts (1-2) at 9 a.m. and Loyalist Lancers (3-0) at 12 p.m.
Loyalist started their undefeated day by coming from behind to beat the Georgian Grizzlies 2-1 (21-25, 25-23, 15-11) in the first three-set match of the tournament. They followed that with a straight-set victory over Conestoga and 2-1 win over Centennial.
Cambrian and Mohawk also stayed undefeated and were reseeded into Pool BB for day two of the tournament. They will face each other at 9 a.m. on Court 2.
At 3:30 p.m. the semifinal and consolation finals take place before the championship final at 5:30 p.m.
