Durham advances to the OCAA Championship

VAUGHAN, Ont. - The Durham College men's indoor soccer team advanced to the OCAA championship for the first time since 2012 after posting a 2-1-0 record at the regional finals held Tuesday at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ont.

The Lords will make their return to the provincial championship that is being hosted by Redeemer University from March 23-25.

Durham opened up the regional championship with a pair of 6-0 wins over St. Lawrence and Sault to book a spot at provincials. With Humber also going 2-0-0 to start the day, they also advanced prior to their final match. With only bragging rights on the line, Humber shutout the Lords 4-0.

"It was a good team effort today," said Durham head coach Dave Ashfield. "Our guys knew what they had to do to advance and were able to execute. We will continue to train hard leading into provincials."

Fanshawe and Georgian advanced to the OCAA championship on Monday, while the remaining three regional championships are scheduled to take place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The Durham College women's indoor soccer team's regional championship will take place on Friday, March 10 at Redeemer University. The Lords are in a pool with Humber, Redeemer and St. Lawrence – Brockville.
