ANCASTER, Ont. – Needing some points against their pool's top teams after the opening day of the OCAA indoor soccer championship, the Durham College men's soccer team was unable to pick up a victory on the second day of competition.
The Lords opened with two draws on Thursday, but were unable to score in their first match on Friday in a 4-0 loss to the George Brown Huskies.
To finish the day, they picked up a draw 2-2 against the University of Toronto Mississauga Eagles, who were atop the standings heading into the match.
Matthew Berry (Oshawa, Ont.) and
Jeremy Bangala (Pickering, Ont.) scored the Lords' only goals of the day.
This season marked back-to-back appearances at the indoor provincial championship for Durham College.
"The team worked hard, but we couldn't get any breaks," said head coach
Dave Ashfield. "We missed a few chances that could have helped us advance, but in the end our year has been fantastic with a gold medal in our outdoor season. Now we move forward from today and look ahead to the 2018-19 season."
The Lords training camp and open tryout will be held in August, prior to the start of the OCAA season in early September. Details will be posted on www.durhamlords.com when they become available.
