ANCASTER, Ont. - The Durham College men's indoor soccer team went 1-2 on Day 1 of the OCAA championship hosted by Redeemer University in Ancaster, failing to qualify for the elimination round of the provincial tournament.
The Lords were in tough as they drew a strong pool featuring the Humber Hawks, Fanshawe Falcons and Conestoga Condors.
Opening the championship with a showdown versus the Hawks, the Lords were unable to get on the scoreboard as they fell 2-0.
DC then had a rematch with the Falcons, who handed the Lords their only loss at the OCAA regional event the week prior. Another tough outing for the green and gold, the Lords picked up their second loss of the day after being defeated by a similar 2-0 scoreline. With the two losses, DC were knocked out of contention for Day 2 of the provincial tournament.
The Lords then closed the day with their third and final match, earning a 4-2 win over the Conestoga Condors. Striker
Jeremy Bangala (Pickering, Ont.) led Durham with two goals in the win, while
Nate Paine (Whitby, Ont.) and
LeRohne Young (Oshawa, Ont.) each scored individual markers as well.
