PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The first look at his 2018 squad has given Durham College women's soccer head coach
Alex Bianchi something to build on.
On Monday night, the Lords fell 3-0 to the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough.
"We're really happy where we are at this very early stage," said Bianchi. "Playing a university team is always a great opportunity to play a competitive team outside of your conference."
With training camp starting on August 15, the team hasn't had much time together, which was evident early. A pair of goals in the first 12 minutes proved to be too much for Durham, who eventually got into a rhythm.
After making it back to the OCAA championship last year for the first time since 2009, the program is looking to continue moving in a positive direction.
Two more exhibition games and the 10
th annual Campus Cup should have the Lords ready for conference play. They open the OCAA season Friday, Sept. 7 in Belleville against the Loyalist Lancers.
Overall Record: 0-1-0
Conference Record: 0-0-0
Next match: Saturday, Aug. 25 vs. St. Clair Saints (11 a.m. – Vaso's Field)
