OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team is off to a great start at their home tournament after winning each of their opening day matches on Friday.
Up against their OCAA east division rivals, the Loyalist Lancers, the Lords swept Loyalist 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-18) to kick off the tournament.
They wrapped up the day with a 3-1 victory over Winnipeg's Université de Saint-Boniface. Durham had a convincing 25-9 opening set win, but allowed Saint-Boniface to push back in the second set before losing the third to extend the match. The Lords ultimately took the fourth set 25-16.
The defending Adidas Cup champion Fanshawe Falcons also picked up a pair of victories on Friday, as well as the Niagara Knights and Algonquin Thunder.
Quarter-finals will be played at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, followed by semifinal matches at 5:30 p.m.
