TORONTO, Ont. - Competing at the National College Baseball Championship, hosted by Humber College, the Durham Lords men's baseball team went 1-1 on Day 1 in Toronto.
The Lords opened the day with a tough 10-3 loss versus the Holland Hurricanes, but bounced back with a decisive 7-1 win over the Lionel-Groulx Nordiques to propel themselves to Day 2 of the national competition.
Durham will match up with the John Abbott Islanders on Friday, Oct. 25. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Connorvale Park.
GAME 1
• 2019 OCAA all-stars
Riley Gray (Caledonia, Ont.) and catcher
Sam Cawker (Courtice, Ont.) were the lone players to record multiple hits, with Gray going 2-for-3 with a run, and Cawker going 2-for-2.
GAME 2

Johnathon McIntosh (Bowmanville, Ont.) was impressive in the win, finishing 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Lords.

Connor May (Oshawa, Ont.),
Jake Legros (Whitby, Ont.), and
Jordan D'Amico (Courtice, Ont.) all added RBI in the win.

• Durham struggled on the mound giving up 10 runs over the first three innings.

Josh Krstulovich (Brampton, Ont.) only lasted 0.6 innings, with
Justin Travis (Oshawa, Ont.) and
Mitchell Heineman (Pickering, Ont.) appearing in relief for the Lords.
GAME 2

Jake Storry (Port Perry, Ont.) delivered the complete game victory for DC, striking out eight Nordiques over seven innings, while allowing just one earned run on four hits.
