OSHAWA, Ont. - Shutting out the visiting UTM Eagles, the Durham College women's soccer team earned a 4-0 preseason victory on Thursday evening at Vaso's Field.
DC was quick out the gates, scoring three goals in the opening half.
Mya Beverley (Oshawa, Ont.) opened the scoring with a soft touch past the Eagles keeper into the lower left corner of the net in the 17th minute. Just under ten minutes later, Beverley added her second of the match in the 26th minute, quickly followed by a goal from
Cory Lapointe (Whitby, Ont.) in the 27th minute of play.
The Lords defence was impressive as well, holding the Eagles without a shot on goal through the entirety of the first 45 minutes. UTM would finish the match with just three attempts on net in total.
Beverley rounded out scoring in the exhibition contest, flicking a header on net in the 53rd minute to complete the hat trick.
Durham will look to keep the offensive momentum going as they challenge the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Tuesday, Sept. 3 in the annual Campus Cup. The women will kick off the annual rivalry night at 7:30 p.m., followed by the men at 8:30 p.m. The first 400 fans will receive a FREE Durham Lords t-shirt.
