PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Reaching another career milestone, Durham College baseball head coach
Sam Dempster earned his 400th overall win as DC picked up two exhibition victories in Peterborough on Wednesday night.
The only head coach the Durham Lords have known since the inception of the program in 1992, Dempster's career record now stands at 401-389-1. Leading the program for over 25 years he has helped Durham College claim seven CIBA Ontario conference championships, a CIBAÂ national gold in 2011 and bronze in 1994, and two OCAA silver medals in 2013 and 2014. Dempster was also honoured as the OCAA coach of the year in 2016.
The Lords were dominant in their Wednesday night exhibition contests, shutting out the Trent Excalibur 9-0 in Game 1, before defeating the Fleming Knights 13-4 in Game 2.
Durham will return home this weekend with a Saturday, Sept. 14 doubleheader versus the Seneca Sting scheduled for 1 and 3:30 p.m., followed by a single contest on Sunday, Sept. 15 against the George Brown Huskies at 1 p.m. Coach Dempster will be recognized for the incredible career achievement before Game 1 of Saturday's home games at Kinsmen Stadium.
